What are the file requirements to import a region into the shape library in Everbridge Suite? (Settings > Organization > Map > Shape Library > + Import New Region file.

Description

Accepted File Formats

The following two file formats are acceptable for upload into the Shape Library. The maximum file size is 100 MB.

  • .kml - A Keyhole Markup Language (.kml) file, which must not be compressed. The KML file should not contain scripts or the <MultiGeometry> tag. An example compatible KML file is attached to this article.
  • .zip - A compressed (.zip) ESRI Shapefile. Do not include nested folders in the .zip file. In other words, the zip file should only contain files associated with the shape (.shp, .shx, .dbf, .cpg, etc.)

For information on extracting a KML file from a KMZ (.zip) file, see knowledge article EBS: How to Extract a KML File Type From a KMZ (Zip) File Type for Importing a Region Into the Shape Library in Everbridge.

Polygon Requirements

The polygon(s) within the file must meet the following parameters:

  • Shapes must be single, closed-loop polygons, and they must not be multi-part polygons.
  • Point or line shapes will not be accepted since these cannot be used to select contacts from the map.
  • Polygons with holes (e.g.,  donut shapes) will not be accepted.
  • Shapes must be in WGS84 projection and CRS of EPSG:4326 or EPSG:3857.
  • Polygons must not intersect.
  • Incident Communication Shape variables will not support shapes with more than 5000 vertices.
