Topic
This article describes how the ManageBridge mobile application handles data visibility, local storage, offline behavior, and access control. It is intended for administrators and security teams who need to understand what data is visible in ManageBridge, what is stored on mobile devices, how it is protected, and how access is governed.
Description
The ManageBridge mobile application is designed as an administrative client for Everbridge managers and supports secure access to Everbridge services from mobile devices. This section explains what data is visible in the app, how local storage and encryption are handled, how the app behaves online and offline, and which roles and permissions control access.
Visible contact and recipient data
ManageBridge limits the display of contact information in the mobile user interface. The app displays only the recipient or employee name. Contact details such as phone numbers or email addresses are not viewable in the app. Only the name is exposed through search results, contact views, and notification management screens.
Local data stored on the device
ManageBridge stores a limited set of data locally on the device to support authentication, performance, and troubleshooting.
Types of data stored locally
- Authentication and session artifacts: This includes items such as tokens, refresh tokens, and account context required to maintain an authenticated session.
- Cached metadata: This includes cached notification, template, and Contact Management metadata to support faster access to commonly used information.
- Temporary and support files: This includes cached documents, images, audio, and logs used by the application.
Retention behavior
Retention of locally stored data varies by category:
- Cache items, including notification, template, Contact Management metadata, and cached documents, images, or audio, are evicted by policy, typically around 30 days and/or when size limits are reached.
- Secure or profile data, such as authentication and session artifacts, persists until the user logs out, the app is reset, or the data is overwritten.
Encryption at rest and sandboxing
Sensitive credentials and session data stored locally by ManageBridge are encrypted at rest. Non-sensitive cached data is not encrypted at rest per the information provided. Data is primarily stored in the Everbridge Cloud, which is FedRAMP-authorized, with minimal non-sensitive data potentially cached locally on the device. Non-sensitive cached data relies on the protections provided by the operating system and application sandboxing.
Online and offline behavior
ManageBridge uses a hybrid model for connectivity and data access. Core operations use Everbridge cloud APIs in real time, while the app also supports local caching and limited offline behavior. Local caching allows some data to remain available briefly when the device is offline or has limited connectivity, but core operations continue to depend on communication with Everbridge cloud services.
Access control and permissions
ManageBridge uses the same access model as the Everbridge Manager Portal for administrative access and permissions.
- Anyone who has access to the Everbridge Manager Portal for an organization can access ManageBridge for that organization.
- Permissions are shared between the Manager Portal and the ManageBridge app, so the same roles and permissions that apply in the Manager Portal also apply in ManageBridge.
- There are no mobile-specific provisioning steps called out for ManageBridge.
Configuring multi-factor authentication (MFA) on the Manager Portal is recommended as a general control and applies to mobile-based administrators as well. MFA configuration that protects Manager Portal access also protects ManageBridge access.
Device security features
The ManageBridge app supports multiple security features on supported devices. These include:
- Biometric authentication on iOS devices, including Face ID and Touch ID.
- PIN or password security based on device-level policies.
- Optional mobile device management (MDM) enforced app-level restrictions.
These features complement the app’s design, where data is primarily stored in the Everbridge Cloud with minimal non-sensitive data cached locally.
