This article describes how SOS safety videos behave in the Everbridge Safety app and Manager portal, including how recordings are created, where they can be viewed, and how viewer access is controlled.
Description
When a user taps the SOS button in the Everbridge Safety app and that SOS triggers a safety-video template, a video recording starts on the mobile device. The recording automatically ends after two minutes. After the recording ends, the resulting file is uploaded into Everbridge.
The SOS video is not a live feed. It is a recorded file that becomes available after the two-minute recording and upload process is complete. The delay that may be observed before the video appears corresponds to this two-minute recording duration and the time required for the upload.
Once uploaded, the SOS video becomes available in the Universe tab and in Visual Command Center (VCC). When the SOS button initiates the safety-video template, the viewer is directed to the Safety Video viewer page in the Everbridge Manager. Access to the Safety Video viewer page depends on both the template configuration and the viewer’s permissions.
If an SOS safety-video link opens to an “unauthorized access” page, the viewer likely does not have permission to view the video. In that situation, it is important to verify who is attempting to open the link and where the link is directing them, identify which template is initiated when the SOS button is pressed in the Safety app, and check which users have permission or were invited to view the video. It is also necessary to confirm whether the account is a VCC account and whether there are related items in VCC that could affect visibility.
If a user is signed in with an Org Admin role, permissions should allow viewing SOS videos. If an Org Admin still receives an authorization error or cannot play videos, the same verification steps around the SOS link destination, the initiated template, and the configured viewers should be followed so that the situation can be evaluated.
