SMS Sender ID Registration Requirements in Australia.
Description
All alpha sender IDs must be registered with the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). Alpha sender IDs that are not registered with ACMA will be labelled as "Unverified" starting July 1, 2026.
For clients who require native 2-way communications over the SMS channel, numeric codes, including the Everbridge shared codes for Australia as denoted in our Global SMS Codes Support Center article, will continue to work without the need for registration.

Client-dedicated sender IDs of types noted above require registration. Everbridge shared sender IDs, such as those noted in our Global SMS Codes page, are already registered properly and do not require any action.

Refer to our Alphanumeric Sender ID for SMS Support Center article for general alphanumeric sender ID requirements.
Registration Process
If you have an ABN (Australian Business Number), then:
- Sender ID registration must be completed through ACMA Assist directly by clients.
- Signing in to ACMA Assist requires authentication via the Australian Government MyID mobile application.
- The registered sender ID must be the brand or company name and supporting document (Business registration, Trademark or Domain certification) will be required as part of the registration process.
- Upon completing the registration process, you will need to provide Everbridge with the sender ID that you have registered with so that we can share this with our SMS partner(s) for Australia.
If you do not have an ABN (Australian Business Number), then:
You will need to wait until sometime in Q2 2026 as our SMS partner for Australia becomes certified for this use-case. We recommend using our default numeric SMS sender ID until this is ready.
Registration Timeline
