Question
If your IPAWS configuration is Live and Simulation Mode is enabled, will this prevent an IPAWS message from being sent to the public?
Answer
During Everbridge's testing of Simulation Mode, it was determined that Simulation Mode will prevent an IPAWS message from being sent to the public if you have a live IPAWS configuration. However, Everbridge strongly recommends that your IPAWS configuration be set to Test prior to sending an IPAWS test message. If you are attempting to send a live IPAWS message, ensure Simulation Mode is disabled.
Best Practices
- When testing IPAWS messages, use an IPAWS Test configuration. See knowledge article EBS: Integrating IPAWS Credentials Into an Everbridge Organization for more information.
- When testing Everbridge Notifications and Incident Communications, use Simulation Mode. See knowledge article EBS: Using Simulation Mode to Send Test Notifications in Everbridge Suite for more information.
- When sending live IPAWS messages, use a Live IPAWS configuration and disable Simulation Mode.
- When sending live Everbridge Notifications or Incident Communications, disable Simulation Mode.
