Entering IPAWS credentials when publishing an IPAWS notification or incident.

Description

IPAWS is a planned multi-agency emergency population warning system in the United States that is hosted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Everbridge Mass Notification integrates with IPAWS to the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), Emergency Alert System (EAS), Non-Weather Emergency Messages (NWEM), Common Alerting Protocol Exchange (CAPEXCH) and PUBLIC Feed channels.

You may use either a Launch Passcode or a your Private Key and Keystore Password to send an IPAWS notification.

To access or change your FEMA credentials:

  1. Log in to the Everbridge Manager Portal and select your Organization
  2. Select Settings > Organization > Publishing Options > CAP Channels > IPAWS
  3. Scroll down to CREDENTIALS

Note: You cannot view the Keystore Password or the Launch Passcode. If you have forgotten your Keystore Password, it can be found in the text file given to you along with your IPAWS certificate. If you have forgotten your Launch Passcode, you can generate a new one by clearing the credentials fields, EBS: Removing IPAWS Credentials From an Everbridge Organization, and reentering the information, EBS: Integrating IPAWS Credentials Into an Everbridge Organization.

Sending an IPAWS Channel Message via Mass Notification

When sending an IPAWS channel message via Mass Notification, you are prompted for the Launch Passcode by default. You have the option of switching to Private Key and Keystore Password.  The Private Key is your IPAWS Key Pass value, and the Keystore Password is your IPAWS Keystore value. 

  1. Log in to the Everbridge Manager Portal as an Account Administrator
  2. Select:
  3. Mass Notification: CommunicationsNotifications > New Notification, or
  4. Incident Communication: Communications > Incidents > Launch Incident > {select template}
  5. Scroll down to Publishing Options
  6. Select your Channel
  7. Choose Test or Live
  8. Enter your IPAWS credentials:
    1. Enter Launch Passcode, or select Enter IPAWS credentials and enter your Private Key and Keystore Password.
    2. You may also switch back to the Launch Passcode prompt by choosing the Enter Launch Passcode link.
