Question

Can contacts confirm SMS messages received with sender IDs altered from what Everbridge has documented in the Global SMS Codes Support Center article?

Answer

If an SMS message arrives with a sender ID that is different from the one noted in the Global SMS Codes Support Center article for a given country, then the recipient will not be able to reply back directly to that message to confirm receipt or respond to a polling question. However, this does not mean that responses are unattainable. Message recipients can use one of the below methods to send a response back for the received message:

  1. Use a short URL to confirm receipt. To use this option, it must be enabled in your Organization when sending out the notification. For steps on enabling the short URL, see Support Center article Enabling the Short URL in SMS Messages for Organizations in Everbridge Suite.
  2. Send the response, such as "YES" or polling choice number, to the number specified in the footer of the SMS message.
    1. If the footer does not specify a number, but the message arrived with an altered sender ID, then send the response, such as "YES" or polling choice number, to the sender ID designated for your country in the Global SMS Codes Support Center article. For example, in Albania, the Everbridge designated codes are +44 7860 022148 and +46 7651 96062. If an SMS arrives with a sender ID that is different from either of these two, the message recipient can send a new message to either of the two designated numbers for Albania and it will be received and processed by our platform.
