EBS: How to Move Contacts From One Group to Another Group in Everbridge Suite


How to move contacts from one group to another group in Everbridge Suite.


Contacts can be moved from one group to another by downloading a .CSV file list of the organization's existing contact records, making a few edits, and then uploading the CSV file using the update option.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Login to the Manager Portal.
  2. Click on the Contacts tab from the top of the page.
  3. Click on the Download button from the Contacts sub-tab.
  4. Import the downloaded contacts CSV into a spreadsheet editor. Steps for properly importing contacts into excel are found in the Knowledge Base Article: 000002675 - Downloaded Contact Data And/or Notification Data Is Not Properly Displayed When Imported Into a New Excel File
  5. Delete all columns except for the following:
    1. First Name
    2. Last Name
    3. External ID
    4. Record Type
    5. Groups
    6. END
  6. Modify the Groups column as desired.
    1. For example, to add all contacts from "Group A" into "Group B", replace "Group A" with "Group B" in the file.
  7. Save the updated contacts file as a comma-separated value (CSV) file.
  8. From the Manager Portal, click the Contacts tab from the top of the page.
  9. Click the Uploads sub-tab, then click the Upload to portal button.
  10. Click the Upload Contacts link, then select the updated contacts CSV file.
  11. With Update selected, then click the Upload to portal button.
