Everbridge Security Bulletins share important information about security-related issues and are designed to reach the right people at each customer organization. This article explains who receives these bulletins, how delivery works, and what to check if an expected recipient does not get a bulletin.
Overview
Everbridge Security Bulletin emails are sent automatically to ensure that security-related information reaches the appropriate contacts at each customer organization. Distribution is based on user roles and account status, and does not require any additional subscription or opt-in.
Who receives Everbridge Security Bulletins
Everbridge Security Bulletin emails are sent automatically to all active users with the Account Admin role on an account. They are not sent to every individual user by default and do not require a separate subscription.
Any user who has the Account Admin role on an account should receive the bulletin.
How delivery works
Distribution of Security Bulletins is handled automatically by Everbridge and is based solely on who is currently configured as an Account Admin on the account. Security Bulletins are sent to all Account Admins on the applicable stacks (for example, .net and .eu), and the Account Admin list for your account reflects the intended recipients of that bulletin.
Check why a user is not receiving bulletins
If a person or email address is not receiving bulletins, confirm in the Manager portal that:
- The user exists in the account
- The user has the Account Admin role assigned
- The user account is marked as active
If a user believes they should be receiving Security Bulletins but are not, verify that they hold the Account Admin role on the relevant account and that their user status is active.
Subscriptions and opt-in
The Security Bulletin is not a user-managed subscription. Distribution is handled automatically by Everbridge and is based solely on who is currently configured as an Account Admin on the account. Users do not need to subscribe separately.
See who a specific bulletin was sent to
If you need to know which Account Admins received a specific Security Bulletin for your account, gather your account name and contact Everbridge Support to request the Account Admin list for that account. Because Security Bulletins are sent to all Account Admins on the applicable stacks (for example, .net and .eu), this Account Admin list reflects the intended recipients of that bulletin.
Why a non-user might receive a Security Bulletin
The intended audience for Security Bulletins is Account Admins only. In some cases, a person who is not an Everbridge user may receive a bulletin if additional distribution lists were used alongside the Account Admin list.
If someone who should not have received a bulletin did get one, collect examples of the issue, including:
- The email addresses that received the bulletin unexpectedly
- Email headers for those messages, if available
Provide this information to Everbridge so internal teams can trace how the distribution lists for that bulletin were compiled.
