Scheduled incidents let you plan future incident launches in advance. However, there are important limits on how you can view, change, or cancel those schedules. This article explains what you can and cannot do today, and how to adjust a scheduled incident when plans change.
What you can and cannot do with scheduled incidents
Editing a scheduled incident
You cannot edit scheduled incidents in the platform at this time. This applies to all details of the schedule, including date, time, and other configuration settings.
The current functionality allows you to delete scheduled incidents, but not modify them after they have been created.
Changing the date or time
You cannot change the scheduled day or time of an existing scheduled incident. Once the schedule is created, the date and time fields cannot be updated.
To change when an incident will launch, you must:
- Delete the existing scheduled incident, and then
- Create a new scheduled incident with the desired date and time.
Viewing scheduled incident details
Incidents that have been saved as Scheduled cannot be viewed or updated by any role. There is currently no user interface or permission level that exposes the details of a scheduled incident after it has been saved.
How to adjust or cancel a scheduled incident
Adjusting a scheduled incident
If you need to change any aspect of a scheduled incident (including its schedule or other settings), the current workaround is:
- Locate and delete the existing scheduled incident, and
- Recreate it as a new scheduled incident with the correct settings.
There is no supported way to directly edit the existing scheduled incident or its schedule.
Canceling a scheduled incident
To prevent a scheduled incident from launching at its scheduled time, you must remove the scheduled task from the scheduling interface before the launch time.
Deleting or editing the incident content alone may not cancel the underlying scheduled task. You need to remove the scheduled task entry itself so that the launch trigger is cleared and the incident will not run.
Requesting improvements to scheduled incidents
Multiple customers have requested the ability to view and edit scheduled incidents, and the product team is evaluating a workflow change. There is no timeframe available for when this might be delivered.
If you need the ability to review or modify scheduled incidents, you can submit a product enhancement request via the Support Center's My Ideas area. For full instructions and what to expect after submission, see the Support Center articles on logging an enhancement request and post-submission guidance.
