VCC: Signal Feed Risk Events — Map Visibility, Timeline Controls, and Retention

Topic

This article describes how Risk Events that arrive via Signal risk feeds behave in the Visual Command Center (VCC) Operator Console. It focuses on visibility on the map, and the role of the timeline.

Description

Risk Events that arrive in VCC through risk feeds, including Signal and other self-service feeds, are stored in the system for historical purposes. Customers are not able to delete or directly modify Risk Events that arrive via these feeds. The feed data is kept in the system for historical retention.

The VCC Operator Console provides controls for viewing and recalling Risk Events without deleting them. The timeframe or timeline control determines which events are displayed on the map. Risk Events stop being shown on the map once they fall outside the VCC timeline window. By default, the VCC timeline shows events from the past 8 days, and this default window applies to both open and closed events. As events age beyond this default window, they no longer appear on the map in the default view, but the underlying events remain in the system for a longer period for historical retention.

To control visibility, operators can adjust the timeline at the bottom of the map, and is represented with an arrow. Changing the timeline window controls which Risk Events, including Signal feed events, are considered in range and displayed on the map. There are no inherent date limitations on the timeline window. The search function allows modification of the date range flexibly, enabling users to find events from past months or specific time frames.
