This article describes how to enable and use the floor plan capability for buildings and other assets in Visual Command Center (VCC). It explains how to verify that building and floor functionality is enabled, how to add floors and upload floor plan files to an asset, what to check if the Floor tab is not visible or an asset cannot be found, and current limitations such as the absence of a bulk upload option.
Description
In VCC, floor plans are attached directly to an asset such as a building or location. Use the Add Floor option to configure the floor and upload the related file so it is available for reference with that asset.
To upload a floor plan for a specific building or asset, open the building or asset in VCC and go to the Floor tab. Click Add Floor. On the Add Floor screen, you can enter or edit the floor name, add a description, and upload the floor plan file or files. Once the floor is saved, the floor plan is attached to that asset for reference.
If you do not see the Floor tab or the Add Floor option for an asset, confirm the following items:
Floor plans must be enabled for the building before you can add them. An administrator or Everbridge Support can enable floor plans for buildings.
Your user account must have permission to view and edit that organization’s assets.
You are viewing the correct asset or building in VCC.
If the asset still cannot be found after confirming the list and permissions, contact Everbridge Support and provide the details of which assets you cannot locate.
To ensure that building-related assets can be used with floor plans, open the Everbridge Admin Console and navigate to Feeds → Asset. Expand the Asset section and check that the building-related asset types are enabled and not shown as disabled or highlighted as unavailable. After that, in the VCC Operator Console Assets feed, confirm that the Buildings item is selected in the Selected Items pane so that building features are visible on the map.
