Contact upload failure error messages may be viewed under Contacts > Uploads> . Selecting the
upload results icon next to the desired file opens the Upload Results page, where the error is displayed.
Root Cause
This error means that an External ID was not provided for the contact.
External IDs are unique identifiers that prevent duplication of contacts and allow differentiation between individuals with the same name. External IDs are required for contact uploads and must be provided in the upload file.
Solution
Ensure that each contact in the upload file includes a value in the External ID column.
External IDs must be unique for each contact and can consist of email addresses or other alpha, numeric, or alphanumeric combinations. Everbridge does not automatically generate External IDs during the upload process.
