EB360: Launch New Communication from Communication Details

Topic

Launch New Communication | Communication Details Dashboard | Everbridge 360™ (EB360)

Description

The Communication Details dashboard consolidates how users launch new independent communications with a single “Launch New” button that opens a dropdown menu containing all three options.

Note: This applies to the Communication Details dashboard only. Launching a new communication from this view creates an independent communication – it is not an update or reply to the current communication.

The “Launch New” Button

Location

The “Launch New” button is located in the Activity Log area of the Communication Details dashboard, in the upper-left section of the activity panel.

Appearance

  • Displays as a single button labeled “Launch New” with a dropdown arrow (▾).
  • Clicking the button opens a dropdown menu directly below it.
  • The dropdown lists three options: Standard, Polling, and Conference – each with its corresponding icon.

How to Launch a New Communication

Accessing the Dropdown

  1. Navigate to the Communication Details dashboard for an existing communication.
  2. Locate the “Launch New” button in the Activity Log area (upper-left of the activity panel).
  3. Click the “Launch New” button. A dropdown menu appears with three communication type options.

Selecting a Communication Type

  1. Click the desired communication type from the dropdown:
    • Standard – A standard one-way notification.
    • Polling – A communication that collects responses from recipients.
    • Conference – A conference bridge communication.
  2. The system navigates to the communication launch form with the selected type pre-selected.
  3. Complete and launch the new communication as normal.

Functional Behavior

Independent Communications

Communications launched from the “Launch New” dropdown are fully independent. This means:

  • The new communication is not linked to the current communication thread.
  • It receives its own unique communication ID.
  • It has its own separate Communication Details dashboard.
  • Recipients and message content must be configured fresh in the launch form.
Note: "Launch New" is different from "Send Update." Send Update sends a follow-on message within the same communication thread and to the same recipients. Launch New creates an entirely separate communication with no connection to the current one.

Communication Types – Behavior Unchanged

Each communication type behaves identically to how it did when launched from the previous separate buttons:

  • Standard: Delivers a one-way message via selected delivery paths (SMS, email, voice, app, etc.).
  • Polling: Prompts recipients to respond to a question with predefined answer options. Response data is captured in the Confirmation Status panel.
  • Conference: Bridges recipients into a live audio conference call.
