Problem
When posting images to Facebook through the Nixle portal, users may experience issues with image quality, resulting in blurry or distorted images appearing on Facebook.
Root Cause
This issue occurs because Facebook has specific image size requirements that differ from Nixle's upload parameters. When images don't meet Facebook's recommended dimensions, the platform may compress or resize them, leading to quality loss and blurriness.
Solution
To prevent blurry images when posting from Nixle to Facebook:
- Ensure your image size is no larger than 788px x 788px for optimal display on Facebook through Nixle.
- Keep file sizes under Nixle's maximum limit of 10 MB.
- Use high-quality, high-resolution images as your starting point to retain more details after compression.
- Save images in PNG format rather than JPEG, as PNG maintains better information quality and minimizes distortion.
Workaround
If you're still experiencing issues with image quality:
- Try different image dimensions that align with Facebook's recommended sizes: a minimum of 761x761 pixels or images with longest edges of 720px, 960px, or 2048px.
- Experiment with different compression settings during the upload process to find the optimal balance between image quality and file size.
- Resize and optimize your images using photo editing software before uploading them to the Nixle platform.
