EBS: Testing the Member Portal Single Sign-On (SSO) Configuration

Topic

How to test the Member Portal Single Sign-On (SSO) configuration.

Description

After configuring or reconfiguring SSO for an Everbridge Member Portal, test the configuration.

  1. Access the SSO Login page using the ACS URL which is in this format:

https://member.everbridge.net/saml/SSO/{API_NAME}/{ORG_ID}/alias/defaultAlias

  1. Create or identify a test contact in the organization and ensure the correct, case-sensitive SSO User ID is configured on the Contact profile.

  2. Request a few users log in via SSO using the Member Portal URL or the ACS URL. If available, also test SSO access from the Everbridge Mobile App (EMA) by searching for and selecting your organization and completing the SSO sign-in.

If Contacts are unable to log in:

  1. Capture screenshots and specific error messages.

  2. Reach out to the IdP Administrator to determine whether there is an error happening on the IdP side and to verify:

  • The ACS URL and Entity ID in the IdP match the Member Portal SSO configuration.

  • The correct organization identifier (Org ID, not Organization Code, where applicable) is being used.

  • The verification certificate is valid and correctly configured in the IdP.

  • The SSO User ID (including exact case) being sent in the SAML assertion matches the SSO User ID on the Contact profile.

  1. Submit a support ticket noting the specific error received, the impacted Contact, the SSO ID used to log in, the Member Portal URL or ACS URL used, and the date and time of the failed sign-in attempt. Indicate whether you are seeing a login error, need assistance reviewing your IdP configuration, or both, and include your availability for a follow-up call.

  2. Refer to knowledge article EBS: Troubleshooting & Configuration Guide for Single Sign-On (SSO) - Main Page.
