Tips for effective messaging in Everbridge.
Description
Five Tips For Effective Messaging:
- When the situation poses an imminent threat to life, send your notification to multiple modalities (aka Delivery Methods) for better reachability. See knowledge articles EBS: Best Practices for Configuring Message Delivery Methods in Everbridge and EBS: Creating and Using Delivery Methods in Everbridge Suite for more information.
- Front load your message with everything important to include: Short sender name, brief description of the event, and a call to action (e.g., Shelter in place, avoid X area).
- Use the custom SMS and custom Email/Everbridge Mobile App message features to tailor your message content to how contacts consume the information on their various devices. For example, email and push alerts via the app allow for use of rich text formatting and you can include additional details for the notification with resources attached or links to websites for further information.
- For phone calls, record the message (30 seconds or less) using a real voice. Contacts respond more favorably to a human voice as opposed to a computer generated one.
- For imminent life-safety events, set the Interval Between Delivery Methods to 0 or 1 minute.
For non-imminent life-safety events, set the Interval Between Delivery Methods to 3 or 5 minutes.
