EBS: Alerts Posted to Twitter Fail to Display; 404 (Not Found), 500 (Internal Server Error) or 401 (Unauthorized)

Problem

When attempting to post service alerts from Everbridge to Twitter, the alerts fail to display on your feed. Additionally, error messages like 404 (Not Found), 500 (Internal Server Error), or 401 (Unauthorized) may appear, indicating a failure in the posting process.

Root Cause

There is a problem with the integration settings or authentication between the Everbridge platform and your Twitter account. Disruptions in this link, including outdated authentication protocols or insufficient user permissions, can prevent successful posting of alerts, leading to the aforementioned error messages.

Solution

  1. Ensure your user role has the necessary permissions for social media settings in Everbridge

  2. Log in to the Everbridge Manager Portal and select your Organization

  3. Select Settings > Organization > Publishing Options > Social Media

  4. Select the option to unlink the existing Twitter account

  5. Relink the Twitter account by entering the username and password

  6. Click Save

  7. Attempt to post content again to verify the issue is resolved

Note: This process may also apply to other social media platforms like Facebook if you're experiencing similar issues.
