CEM: Setting up the CEM Orchestration Integration User

Question

What is the CEM Orchestration Integration User and how can that user be configured?

Answer

The CEM Orchestration Integration User is a user account in your Organization that will be used to perform automated actions necessary to execute your CEM Orchestration workflows. For example, a Launch Incident action in a CEM Orchestration rule will be performed automatically by your Integration User, and you will see the Integration User's username associated with the action in the Activity Log and other reporting. There are two types of Integration Users: a System Managed Integration User and a Custom Integration User.

System Managed Integration User

Select the System Managed Integration User option if you do not want to specify a particular account for this purpose. In this case, Everbridge will make the Integration User the same as the API User configured in VCC Provisioning. This is the default configuration in a new Organization.

Custom Integration User

Select the Custom Integration User option to assign a specific user as the Integration User. With this option, users are selected from a drop-down menu.

Notes:

  • If you do not already have a user account that you want to use for this purpose, you will need to create one first so that it will appear as a choice in the drop-down menu.
  • An Integration User must have the Org Admin role. If a user does not have an Org Admin role, they will now show in the drop-down menu. You will only see existing user accounts with an Org Admin role in the Custom Integration User selector.

Tip: It is helpful to give your Integration User account a username you can easily identify when you see it in the logs and reporting.
