VCC: Launching a Location-Based Test Communication in Visual Command Center

Launching a Location-Based Test Communication

Description

Let's test sending a location-based Communication.

Go to manager.everbridge.net

1. Navigate

Hover over Situational Awareness and click on Visual Command Center.

2. Review Map

Let's find your contact on the map.

3. Zoom Map

You can zoom and pan the map.

4. Search

or, You can search by typing in your name.

If needed, use the filter function.

Select your contact.

10. Review Contact

And see that we are transported to where your contact is. The bottom panel also shows all of your contact details.

11. Select Menu

Now, let's launch a Communication. Click on the three dot menu.

And select Map Filter.

13. Choose Tool

Choose a drawing tool. For this example I will use the radius.

Follow the on-screen instructions to create your shape around your contact's location.

For the radius, see that when you click and drag it, it creates your shape.

Now that we have our shape, launch a Communication by clicking on the icon.

19. Create Communication

Let's go ahead and create our communication.

Select an event type that best matches your Communication.

The system will suggest templates based on the event type that you choose.

Next, select a template.

Since we are launching a simple test communication, select no template.

24. Message Subject

Next, Give your Communication a subject.

As well as a body. This message will be used for all delivery paths.

However, if we customize, we can set different messages for email and SMS. Click add custom message.

Turn on both SMS and email and click save.

28. Select SMS

Choose the "SMS" option.

And enter the message that will be specifically sent to the SMS delivery paths.

Click the email option.

And enter the message that will specifically be sent to email delivery paths. Feel free to add formatting or even an image in your test.

32. Review Contacts

Next, we are presented with the option of adding contacts to receive this communication. We can skip this step since we made a map-based selection around an area that included your contact.

When you scroll down you will see that those within the shape are automatically included in the communication.

For this example, my Communication will go to two different people since they both are associated with addresses within my shape.

35. Launch Communication

Finally, click launch your communication.

Now, check your devices to see how your message turned out.
