Description
Everbridge Notifications can be published on subscribers' RSS feeds by using the CAP RSS Feed Publishing Option when creating a Notification. This guide walks you through the steps to publish a Notification to a CAP RSS feed. Before publishing a Notification to a CAP RSS feed, be sure to send the CAP RSS feed link to your subscribers. Note that all fields with a red asterisk are required fields.
1. Login Page
Sign in to the Manager Portal and select your Organization.
2. Manager Portal
Ensure you are at the Organization level.
3. New Notification
Create a new Notification by selecting Communications, Notifications, New Notification.
4. Message Fields
Fill in the Message fields.
5. Title
Enter a Title.
6. Message Body
Enter a message.
7. CAP RSS Feed
Toggle "CAP RSS Feed" under "Publishing Options."
8. CAP Fields
Fill in the CAP Fields.
9. Message Status - Required
Select a "Message Status" from the drop-down list.
10. Source - Optional
Enter the "Source". It should be the name of the Agency. Source may be displayed as a "signature line" in some delivery systems. Click on the information icon for more information.
11. Scope - Required
Select "Scope" from the drop-down list.
12. Restriction - Optional
"Restriction" can be filled with any text such as "Law Enforcement Sensitive", or "Official Use Only".
13. Addresses - Optional
The "Addresses" field is used for dissemination to specific addresses.
14. Message Category - Required
Select a "Message Category" from the drop-down list. Click on the information icon for more information on what each category means.
15. Event Name - Required
Select an "Event Name" from the drop-down list.
16. Urgency - Required
Select the "Urgency" of the message from the drop-down list.
17. Severity - Required
Select the "Severity" of the message from the drop-down list.
18. Certainty - Required
Use the drop-down list in the "Certainty" field to select the likelihood the event will occur.
19. Expires - Optional
"Expires" is the expected hourly duration of the event. The expiration time should be the same or shorter than the broadcast duration time under the Notification Settings to ensure the alert can be stopped or extended. Select when the CAP feed expires from the drop-down list.
20. Sender Agency Name - Optional
"Sender Agency Name" is automatically populated based on the name listed in the Organization settings. If more than one name is configured, select one from the drop-down list.
21. Headline - Optional
"Headline" will automatically populate from the title of the message, but it can be changed.
22. Message - Optional
"Message" is the content to share.
23. Instruction - Optional
Use the "Instruction" field to describe protective actions or precautionary measures.
24. Web Link - Optional
"Web Link" is an optional field where you can provide a URL for recipients to follow.
25. US Time Zones - Optional
Optionally select a US time zone from the drop-down list.
26. Area Description - Required
"Area Description" is pre-populated with the name of the SAME code entered in an Organization's settings and describes the affected are of the alert message. Click on the information icon for more information.
27. Affected Region SAME code(s)
The "Affected Region Same Code(s)"will display the SAME codes listed in the Organization's settings, if any.
28. Polygon - Optional
The "Polygon" section shows whether a polygon is selected or not.
29. Attachments - Optional
Messages that include a recorded audio message as an attached file will be delivered to radio stations to play instead of the text-to-speech. Attached MP3 files must be less than two megabytes and should be less than two minutes long.
30. Contacts
Select the Contacts to receive the Notification.
31. Send the Notification
Send the Notification.
