Topic
Organizations that utilize Microsoft Teams can integrate it with Everbridge Suite to send Notifications to their contacts. This article describes implementing it as a new integration.
Description
Feature Scope
Before starting the implementation process, consider the capabilities and limitations of its scope. This integration allows:
- Organizations to send Everbridge Notifications to their contacts via Microsoft Teams.
- Recipients to confirm receipt and respond to polling questions.
This integration will not:
- Utilize other Teams features, such as allowing contacts to join a Teams conference call or group chat.
- Support custom Teams messages.
In addition to the above, the initial version of this integration lacks the following future functionality:
- Two-way communications. Responses are currently only supported via Buttons.
- Requiring authentication or opt-ins from contacts to receive messages in Teams. Once the app has been installed and the Delivery Method configured in the Contact Record, they can receive messages.
Requirements
The following criteria must be met to successfully implement Microsoft Teams as a Delivery Method:
- The customer must have a Microsoft Teams client.
- Teams administrators must have the appropriate permissions.
- The Everbridge Teams bot is installed from the Microsoft Appsource Store.
New Implementation
To implement a fresh instance of this integration as a Microsoft Teams administrator:
- Ensure that your users/contacts/employees have permission and can log in to their Microsoft Teams App.
- Go to App Setup Policies. Select Global (Org-wide default).
- Click on Add apps and search for “Everbridge” in the Add installed apps pop-up, then click the Add button.
- The bot will appear under the Installed Apps section.
- Click Save at the bottom of the page and Confirm in the confirmation modal that appears.
- The Everbridge Teams app will appear in Microsoft Teams for each user in the tenant.
- After the app has been added, all users within the tenant will receive a welcome message in the Everbridge Teams app. If you do not receive a welcome message, please uninstall the app and try the New Implementation procedure again. You will not receive Teams messages from Everbridge if you do not receive a welcome message.
- Log in to the Organization level in the Manager Portal and navigate to Settings > Organization > Notifications > Delivery Methods, where you can add MS Teams as a Delivery Method for the Organization:
- Once the MS Teams Delivery Method has been added to the Organization, configure it for your contacts by either:
- Manually updating each Contact Record.
- Performing a Contact Upload.
- NOTE: The Device Address for the Microsoft Teams Delivery Method will be the user’s chat information in the Teams tenant (i.e., name@domain.com).
- Once a Contact Record includes the MS Teams Delivery Method, the contact can receive Notifications from Everbridge within Microsoft Teams.

These instructions omit the required step of adding the Delivery Method in the Organizational Settings, under Settings -> Organization -> Notifications -> Delivery Methods
It would be great, for customers that have custom tenant email addresses, to select a checkbox or mapping page where we can say MS Teams address should be the same as Email Address 1.
How do you get Everbridge alerts to show on a locked/unlocked screen on iOS devices? Notification settings are configured to allow alert messages but nothing shows up when an alert message is sent to the user - only a red dot on the MS Teams app, and the Everbridge app in the Teams app.
