Roles - New Behavior for Google Public Alerts (Notifications Only) Starting March 19 & 20, 2024.
Description
The March 19 and 20, 2024 release of Everbridge Suite introduces the ability to create custom roles. Whether you use custom roles or not, a Group Manager that does not have permissions to Publish to Google Public Alerts will no longer be able to publish a message to Google Public Alerts as a result of this release. Please note that the original behavior may be restored. Please see the example below for details on this new behavior.
Impacted Permission(s):
Publish to Google Public Alerts.
Impacted Roles:
Mass Notification: Group Manager, Dispatcher, Mass Notification Operator
Use Case:
Group Manager A does not have the Publish to Google Public Alerts permission enabled; Group Manager A launches a notification template with the a Publish to Google Public Alerts publishing option.
Original Behavior:
Group Manager A can publish to Google Public Alerts.
New Behavior:
Group Manager A cannot publish to Google Public Alerts.
To Retain Existing Behavior:
To restore the existing behavior that allows users to publish to Google Public Alerts via the user interface and Rest API, enable the permission Publish to Google Public Alerts for the applicable roles.
