Roles - New Behavior for Deactivating Publishing Options (Notifications & Incidents) Starting March 19 & 20, 2024

Description

The March 19 and 20, 2024 release of Everbridge Suite introduces the ability to create custom roles. Whether you use custom roles or not, the option to view or deactivate the following two publishing options when viewing the Notification Details Page in Everbridge, if the Incident Administrator viewing the notification details does not have these permissions enabled, will be restricted as a result of this release.

  • Publish to Everbridge Desktop Alerts, and
  • Publish to Everbridge Web Widget

Please note that the original behavior may be restored. Please see the example below for details on this new behavior.

Publish to Everbridge Desktop Alerts and Publish to Everbridge Web Widget.

Impacted Roles:

  • Incident Communications: Incident Operator, Incident Administrator
  • Mass Notification: Group Manager, Dispatcher

Use Case:

Administrator B launches a template with the Publish to Everbridge Desktop Alerts and Publish to Everbridge Web Widget publishing options enabled.

Original Behavior:

Incident Administrator A can View and Deactivate the above two publishing options in the Notification Details Page.

New Behavior:

Incident Administrator A can View but cannot Deactivate the above two publishing options in the Notification Details Page.

To Retain Existing Behavior:

To restore the existing behavior that allows users to deactivate the above two publishing options via the user interface and Rest API, enable the permission Publish to Everbridge Desktop Alerts and/or Publish to Everbridge Web Widget for the applicable roles.
