 EBS: Email - How to Customize the Email Footer Unsubscribe Link in Everbridge Suite.

Description

When Contacts are allowed to unsubscribe from receiving Everbridge email notifications (see knowledge base article EBS: Email - Allow Contacts to Unsubscribe or Opt-Out from Everbridge Email Notifications), you can select the default system email footer unsubscribe link or you can optionally choose to have a customized unsubscribe link in the email footer. To customize the email footer unsubscribe link, follow these steps:

  1. Log into the Everbridge Manager Portal and select your organization
  2. Select Settings > Organization > Notifications > Email - Header & Footer
  3. Scroll down to EMAIL - FOOTER
  4. Select Custom unsubscribe
  5. Type your custom text in the EMAIL - FOOTER section. Replace the text inside the double brackets [[Type unsubscribe link text here]] with your custom text for the unsubscribe action. Note: Leave the double brackets
  6. Click Save

EXAMPLE: You are receiving this email because you are subscribed to ABC Alerts. To stop receiving future emails from ABC Alerts, you can [[unsubscribe]].

  1. Your contact receives an Everbridge email notification and clicks on the unsubscribe link

  1. Your contact follows the prompts and chooses the Yes, Unsubscribe button.
  2. Your contact is then redirected to a confirmation page.

  1. When you send a subsequent notification email to that contact or any other contact who has that email address that has been unsubscribed, then the Everbridge application will block the email message from being sent to them. You can view the call result for the contact under a notification's delivery details:
    1. Log into the Everbridge Manager Portal and select your organization
    2. Select Communications > Notifications > Active/History > {title} > Delivery Details > Expand the + sign
      The call result will display as Not Attempted - Unsubscribed for the email attempt on the notification report.

NOTE: If you sent this notification only via email, then the contact in the above example would be aggregated under the UNREACHABLE category in the Notification Details. However, if you used other delivery methods for your notification and Everbridge was able to send the notification via another delivery method to the same contact, then they will be listed under the appropriate confirmation status category.
