Question

Is There a Way to View a List of Users And/or Contacts Who Have Blocked the Caller ID Phone Number Used for Everbridge Notifications?

Answer

No. There is no way to view a list of users and/or contacts that have blocked the caller ID phone number used for Everbridge alerts. This is because there is no clear mechanism from the phone carrier that notifies Everbridge that the call has been blocked or that the number is on a device- or carrier-level blocklist.

An indicator that the recipient may have blocked the caller ID used for Everbridge notifications is that the Notification Delivery Details show a call was placed to this contact, yet they report not receiving any call. In these cases, you can ask the contact to:

  • Check the blocked/filtered numbers list on their phone and remove the Everbridge caller ID if present, and/or

  • Check with their phone carrier to verify whether the Everbridge caller ID has been blocked at the carrier level.

After they make any changes, send a new test notification so that you can review the latest Notification Delivery Details and confirm whether the call attempt was made and how it was classified.

If a recipient has opted out of receiving messages from Everbridge but has not blocked the caller ID, the Unsubscribe Requests quick report can be used to view a list of such recipients. This report displays a list of recipients that have responded STOP to an SMS message or unsubscribed from Voice Notifications (if configured). More information on this report can be found here: EBS: Viewing Unsubscribe or Opt-Out Requests in Everbridge Suite
