There are two ways of selecting multiple values while using the advanced search feature for contacts.

  1. Searching for values using AND logic.
  2. Searching for values using OR logic.

Advanced Search AND Logic

AND Logic

To use AND logic, a search can be performed for multiple record types or delivery methods. By selecting the same field more than once with different values, the search will filter contacts that have all of the selected values. Follow the steps below for an example on selecting multiple record types for a contact to have while using advanced search:

  1. Login to the Manager Portal and select the desired organization from the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Click on the Contacts tab.
  3. Click on the Advanced link next to the search boxes.
  4. Select Record Type from the Field dropdown menu.
  5. Set the Condition as desired.
  6. Click on the desired value to highlight it.
  7. Repeat steps 4-6.
  8. Click Search.

By selecting multiple values with this method, the search will return contacts that must have all of the selected record types assigned to them.

Advanced Search OR Logic

OR Logic

To use OR logic, a search can be performed for multiple record types or delivery methods. After choosing a field and condition, multiple values can be selected by clicking the desired values while holding the Ctrl key. Follow the steps below for an example on selecting multiple record types contacts can potentially have while using advanced search:

  1. Login to the Manager Portal and select the desired organization from the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Click on the Contacts tab.
  3. Click on the Advanced link next to the search boxes.
  4. Select Record Type from the Field dropdown menu.
  5. Set the Condition as desired.
  6. In the Value box, hold the Ctrl key and click on all of the desired values.
  7. Click Search.

By holding the Ctrl key and selecting multiple values, the search will return contacts that have any of the selected record types assigned to them.
