EBS: When Disabling the IPAWS Pin Function in Everbridge Suite, What Does the Popup Warning Message Labeled ‘Credentials’ Mean?

Question:

When disabling the IPAWS PIN function, what does the popup warning message labeled 'Credentials' mean?

Credentials
When 'Don't Use PIN' is enabled, IPAWS credentials will no longer be required to:
  - Send IPAWS messages
  - View IPAWS message history in the universe
  - Retrieve COG profile

Answer:

There are three places in the product that can prompt for an IPAWS PIN:

  • When sending an IPAWS message.
  • When viewing IPAWs message history under the Universe tab.
  • When retrieving a COG profile.

The purpose of the IPAWS PIN is to validate the IPAWS credentials used to perform these functions. When you disable the PIN function with the Don't Use PIN option, you will be able to perform these three functions without having to enter a PIN (i.e., without verifying your IPAWS credentials.)
