Sending an Audio Message with IPAWS Notifications and Incidents in Everbridge Suite

There are two methods for sending an audio message with your IPAWS notification or incident. You may record your MP3-formatted EAS audio message using the Emergency Alert System (EAS) recorder, or you may upload a prerecorded MP3 file to send along with your EAS message. Below are instructions for both methods.

To Add an MP3-formatted EAS Audio Recording

1. Log in to the Everbridge Manager Portal and select your organization
2. Select Communications > Notifications > New Notification
3. Scroll down to Publishing Options
4. Select Emergency Alert System (EAS) as an IPAWS CAP Channel
5. Select Use Everbridge recorder

Note: EAS has its own recorder. When you select the Everbridge recorder, you are actually selecting the EAS recorder and not the Everbridge recorder. Once you have chosen EAS as an IPAWS CAP Channel, the recorder in the Audio Message portion of the notification/incident is the EAS recorder. It is important to note that EAS needs its own recorder because it cannot support the higher quality format provided by the Everbridge recorder.

6. Click the Record button to start a Voice Message
7. Click Send

To Upload a Prerecorded MP3 Audio Recording

1. Log in to the Everbridge Manager Portal and select your organization
2. Select Communications > Notifications > New Notification
3. Scroll down to Publishing Options
4. Select Emergency Alert System (EAS) as an IPAWS CAP Channel
5. Select Upload a file

You can upload a single file - maximum size is 2MB. The recommended format is mp3 mono, 64 kbit/s data, preferably sampled at 22.05 kHz or 44.1 kHz.

6. Click Send

NOTE: Non-MP3-formatted file attachments are not supported.
