EB360: How Do Residents and Businesses That Are Part of Resident Connection Opt Out of Receiving Everbridge Notifications?

Question

How Do Residents and Businesses That Are Part of Resident Connection Opt Out of Receiving Everbridge Notifications?

Answer

Residents and businesses covered by Resident Connection can always opt out of receiving Everbridge notifications. They do this in the same way that registered contacts or users in Everbridge can opt out. To opt out of SMS notifications they can reply with one of five acceptable keywords (STOP, END, UNSUBSCRIBE, QUIT, Yes, and CANCEL). To opt out of voice notifications, they can press "0" during a phone call.

Residents and businesses can opt out even if the subscription settings for the organization do not allow opt outs. Organization subscription settings do not affect residents and businesses at all - they can always unsubscribe even if organization contacts cannot unsubscribe themselves. Note in the screenshot below (Settings > Organization > Notifications > Delivery Methods) that the organization is configured to not allow contacts and users to opt out of voice notifications. This does not affect residents. They can still opt out.

Note: Currently, users cannot unsubscribe residents or businesses themselves. This is on the product roadmap to be added to Resident Connection in a future release.

If residents need to opt out of notifications for a specific delivery method only such as landline they should:

  1. Contact their local administration or Everbridge system administrator

  2. Provide specific details about the phone number they wish to have removed

  3. Request a manual adjustment to their contact preferences

Note: Currently, the system may require complete contact removal to eliminate a specific phone number, so direct communication with the system administrator is recommended.
