EBS: When Do IPAWS Credentials Expire?

Question

When do IPAWS credentials expire?

Answer

FEMA generally sets a three year expiration date (https://www.fema.gov/sites/default/files/2020-09/fema_ipaws_faq.pdf) and will notify the Point of Contact (POC) for the jurisdiction well in advance of the expiration date.

To determine when your IPAWS credentials will expire, view the text file that contains the private key and keystore password sent with the certificate (.jks) file. The expiration date can also be found in the email from FEMA that had the certificate attached.

If you register for a FEMA users portal at https://www.fema.gov/emergency-managers/practitioners/integrated-public-alert-warning-system/public-safety-officials/sign-up/registration, you can see the expiration date as well.
