How to format text for specific Delivery Methods.

Description

Properly formatting your text within a notification is a simple step to ensure your message is presented to your recipients exactly as planned. Depending on how you send your message, whether it be through SMS, voice calls, email, or other delivery methods, different formatting options can apply.

1. Create Notification

When creating an email or Everbridge mobile app message, you can further enhance your text by using rich text formatting.

To begin, click the checkbox next to, Use custom Email / Everbridge Mobile App message.

3. Customize your Message

A new text field will appear with numerous tools to customize your message.

4. Add Text

Enter the message regarding the emergency evacuation.

5. Bold

For example, here, styles like bold or italics can be added.

To insert an image, click the Insert Image button.

and enter the URL.

Fill in the text box with "www.everbridge.com"

Another way to insert an image is to click the image upload button.

13. Insert Hyperlink

To insert a link, highlight the text you would like to become the hyperlink. Then click the Insert Hyperlink button.

Rich text formatting can also be used when adding a web page message to a custom SMS notification.

It's important to note that the message in this field is limited to 160 characters as it will appear as a text message to your recipients.

You can keep track of your character count as you type your message in real-time.

By selecting this, your contacts who receive the SMS notification will also be sent a link to view a longer message through a web page.

Here the rich text editor, with options for imagery, and hyperlinks are available.

This is great if you have a longer in-depth message or notification that requires an image or website but still want to send the message via the SMS delivery method.

Keep in mind not all HTML text editors like these are created equal. Therefore it's important to be aware of formatting when pasting text into one of these rich text editor fields.

30. Windows Notepad App

It's a good idea to first paste any copied text into a basic text editor like Notepad or Text Edit to strip out or remove any problematic formatting. This can also be done by using a keyboard shortcut.

After copying the text you want to use in your new notification, simply press Ctrl Shift V altogether if you're on a PC.
