EBS: How Are Safety Variable Mappings Used in Incidents in Everbridge Suite?

Question

How are Safety variable mappings used in Incidents in Everbridge Suite?

Answer

When contacts use the Safety Connection features on the Everbridge Mobile App to trigger Incidents, Safety variable mappings allow certain variables to be included in Incidents.

There are five Safety fields that can be mapped with either a textbox, textarea or location Incident variable:

  • Record Type
  • Member Name
  • Phone Number
  • SOS URL
  • Location

NOTE: Before creating a Safety variable mapping, create the Incident variables that will be used by Incident templates. For this example, a location variable is created.

Create Incident Variable

  1. Log in to the Manager Portal and select an Organization from the upper right-hand corner of the page.
  2. Navigate to Communications > Incidents > Variables.
  3. Click New Variable.
  4. Select the type. For this example, we'll use Location: Geo Point.
  5. Enter a name, such as Geopoint.
  6. Enter a character limit if applicable.
  7. Click OK.
