Error Message:
Additional information/attribute value is invalid
Contact upload failure error messages can be viewed under Contacts > Uploads. Selecting the upload results icon next to the desired file opens the Upload Results page, where the error is displayed.
Root Cause
This error indicates that a CSV upload file contains an invalid value in an Additional Information field.
This error commonly occurs in the following scenarios:
The date value is not formatted correctly in Excel before saving the CSV file.
The date in the CSV file does not match one of the predefined values configured in the additional information field.
Solution
Incorrect Date Formatting in the CSV File
When the Additional Information field uses the Date data type, Excel may automatically change the date format when saving the CSV file. This can cause the value in the CSV file to differ from the expected format.
To ensure the date value is formatted correctly:
Choose the Custom Value column associated with the dates being entered.
Right-click and select Format Cells.
Change the Date format to YYYY-MM-DD.
Choose OK.
Save the file as a CSV file.
-
Upload the file to the organization.
Date Value Does Not Match Predefined Additional Information
If the Additional Information field is configured with Date as the data type and Single Selection as the display format, the value entered in the CSV file must match one of the predefined values configured in the field.
To resolve this issue:
Navigate to Organization > Settings > Contacts and Groups > Additional Information.
Locate the Date additional information field used in the CSV file.
Review the list of predefined values configured for the field.
Update the value in the CSV file so that it matches one of the predefined date values exactly.
Save the file as a CSV file.
Upload the file to the organization.
