EBS: Email Hyperlinks Used to Confirm Receipt of Notifications Contain No Identifying Information in Everbridge Suite

Problem

Hyperlinks in a notification email used to confirm receipt of the message do not contain any identifying information and may be rewritten by an organization's email security or URL protection gateway. As a result, the links can appear suspicious or similar to phishing emails to many recipients.

Root Cause

This is the current product behavior. Everbridge confirmation links are intentionally generic and do not expose contact-identifying information.

Solution

If you believe the confirmation or content links in your notifications are being rewritten or are otherwise appearing incorrectly, contact Everbridge Support. When you open a case, include all of the following so Support can review and reproduce the behavior:

  • The exact original URL you included in the notification (for example, the direct link to your website).

  • A complete screenshot of the received email showing both the displayed link text and the full underlying URL (the full href value) as it appears to recipients.

  • Confirmation that Everbridge Support is permitted to access your Everbridge Suite organization to review the notification and perform testing.

Support may then confirm whether the behavior is due to normal URL rewriting by your email security system or whether further investigation is required.

Workaround

Remove the hyperlinks from the emails prior to sending.
