Missing value in the following required column: Record Type

Contact upload failure error messages may be viewed under Contacts > Uploads> .  Selecting the upload results icon next to the desired file opens the Upload Results page, where the error is displayed.

Root Cause

This error means that a Record Type was not provided for the Contact.

Solution

Ensure that each contact in the upload file includes a value in the Record Type column. The Record Type must also be defined in the Organization settings. The following file would cause this error because a Record Type was not provided for the contact.

The following file shows a corrected upload file. Each contact includes a Record Type value, and the record type "Staff" has been defined in the Organization Settings prior to the upload.
