Question

What is a polling notification used for in Everbridge Suite?

Answer

Polling notifications are used so that a notification is sent to contacts with a list of options that they can respond with. Polling responses are tracked per contact and are not anonymous; the system records which specific contact selected each response option.

Send a polling notification by following the steps listed below:

  1. Log in to the Manager Portal and select your Organization.

  2. Click on the Notifications tab from the top of the page.

  3. Click on New Notification.

  4. Under the message body, click the radio button for Polling.

  5. Enter a response in the text field beneath Text Response.

    1. More text responses can be created by selecting the Add Another link.

  6. Complete the rest of the notification as desired and send.

Polling notification results are available from the notification details page:

  1. Click on the Notifications tab from the top of the page.

  2. Click on the title of the desired notification from the notification history list.

Polling results are displayed in two ways:

  • Summary view – Shows overall response totals for each option.

  • Detailed view – Accessed via Delivery Details, shows contact-specific polling results, including which contact chose each answer.

Senders are not automatically notified as responses come in, so you must manually review the notification details page to monitor polling responses.

Polling Option Response Format

In the example below SMS Polling responses modify the response options to make it easier to select the appropriate response from listed options by adding "for" to the display so contacts know to press 1 FOR I am OK or press 2 FOR I need assistance.

Note: When you send out a polling message, all recipients will receive the message with polling options. There is currently no way to add contacts who will only receive the message for awareness without being prompted to respond.
