Text character limits when creating Incident information variables in Incident Communications.
Description
Two types of text fields are available when creating Incident information variables: Textbox and Textarea. Text limits for these variable types are as follows:
- A textbox has a limit of 1-399 characters of text.
- A textarea can be defined with a limit between 100 - 50,000 characters of text.
To create a Textbox or Textarea variable:
- Log into the Everbridge Manager Portal and select your Organization.
- Navigate to Communications > Incidents > Variables.
- Select New Variable at the top of the page.
- Choose the variable type from the dropdown menu. In this case, select either Textbox or Textarea.
- Name the variable.
- Optionally, include text for a tooltip.
- Enter the character limit in the Limit field.
- Click OK.
In the examples below, the Textbox limit has been set to 260 characters and the Textarea limit has been set to 4000 characters.
