How to upload data into Visual Command Center.

Uploading data to Visual Command Center (VCC) allows users to visualize data on the map with different levels of detail and importance. A data type must be configured to begin categorizing the data that will is displayed in Visual Command Center:

Creating a Data Type

Visual Command Center SaaS
  1. Log in to Visual Command Center SaaS.
  2. Click the menu icon from the upper right-hand side of the page.
  3. Scroll down and click Admin Console.
Create a New Data Type
  1. The page will open the Admin Console and then click Data.
  2. Under the My Data tab, click Add.
  3. The Create New Data Type dialog box will open then:
    1. Enter a Name.
    2. Select the kind of data from the drop-down menu.
  4. Click Save.

Adding Attributes to a Data Type

Adding attributes offers the ability to add more detail about each data type. Users can identify the kinds of attributes that will help provide operators a better understanding of what assets and data will appear on the VCC map:

Adding Attributes
  1. While in the Admin Console, click Data.
  2. Under the My Data tab select the desired data type.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the Attributes section and click Add Attribute.
Create an Attribute
  1. The Create Attribute dialog box will open then:
    1. Enter a Name.
    2. Select an attribute type from the drop-down menu.
  2. Click Save.
    1. Repeat steps 1-5 to create more attributes.
Show On Card, List & Tooltip
  1. Select the desired checkboxes for the attributes you want to appear in tooltips and the items panel of the VCC map:
    1. Show On Card.
    2. Show On List.
    3. Show On Tooltip. NOTE: For tooltips, you can click only two attributes.
  2. Drag the desired attributes into the order in which they should appear on the VCC map.
  3. Click Save.

Downloading a Data Template

Once data is appropriately configured, download a template of the data in CSV format. This allows for modification of data in bulk for VCC. To download a data template follow the steps below:

Download a Template
  1. While in the Admin Console, click Data.
  2. Under the My Data tab select the desired data type.
  3. Under the Import Data section click Download Template....

Uploading Data

Once the data is organized in a CSV file, upload it to VCC:Upload a File

  1. While in the Admin Console, click Data.
  2. Under the My Data tab select the desired data type.
  3. Under the Import Data section click Upload New File.
Upload Data Source
  1. The Upload Data Source dialog box will open and either:
    1. Drag and drop a file into the highlighted box.
    2. Click the highlighted box to select a file from the machine.
  2. Click Upload.
Review & Approve
  1. Once the data is processed, click Review.
  2. To proceed with the upload, click Approve.

Displaying Data in Feeds

Once data is uploaded to VCC, it can be displayed on the map in the form of feeds. To activate a feed, follow the steps below:

Feed Details
  1. While in the Admin Console, click Feeds.
  2. Select the Assets to activate the drop-down.
  3. Click the desired asset to open up it's details.
  4. Click Enabled.
  5. Use the sliders to click a Feed Visibility Zoom Level.
  6. Optionally select the check box to enable Feed Item Aggregation. (When feed data contains a large number of items, visualize item density as colored blocks.)
  7. Optionally Enable Security on this Feed to restrict viewing of this feed to users in specified roles.
    1. Select role(s) from the drop-down list.
    2. Leave this option blank to allow all users to see this feed.
Feed Details Continued
  1. Select a feed item's Icon and Color.
  2. Select the checkboxes next to the desired Filters.
  3. Click Save.
