EBS: What Do the Confirmation Statuses Mean in a Notification's Details?

Question

What do the confirmation statuses mean in a notification's details?

Answer

The confirmation statuses are defined below:

  • Confirmed: The contact confirmed receipt of the message during the broadcast duration.

  • Not Confirmed: The contact did not confirm receipt of the message within the allowed time. This includes contacts who did not attempt to confirm. All contacts begin in this status when a notification starts.

  • Unreachable: The contact did not receive the notification. The status shows as Not Delivered and provides a reason. Everbridge displays Unreachable only when no viable delivery methods exist for that notification. For additional details about call status messages, see this knowledge article for additional information: EBS: Understanding Call Result Messages for Notifications in Everbridge Suite.

The time allowed for confirmation is the broadcast duration configured when the notification is created. Confirmation attempts after the broadcast duration expires are not accepted and display as Not Confirmed.

In some cases, a discrepancy may occur where a recipient reports receiving and confirming an alert, but reporting shows no confirmations or no delivery methods. This can occur due to timing or synchronization issues between delivery events and reporting widgets.

If a contact is unreachable, verify that contact delivery paths are correctly defined. For example, if a notification is sent using the Email 1 delivery path only, and a contact record does not have an Email 1 delivery path defined, the contact is considered unreachable for that notification.

To view confirmation statuses for a notification, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to the Manager Portal and select the organization from the upper right-hand corner.

  2. Select the Notifications tab.

  3. Select the title link for the notification.

To list contacts who have not confirmed in a custom Incident or Notification report, use the Confirmation Status filter and set it to N. This returns all contacts who have not confirmed across any delivery method.
