Topic

Incident-Zone notification best practices.

Description

Follow the suggestions below for tips on using Incident-Zone notifications.

When Launching a Notification with an Incident Zone

  • Use polygons that are at least 200 x 200 meters for more effective use of a recipient device's geo-location.

  • Verify that the Everbridge Mobile App is enabled as a delivery method.

  • Ensure that the Incident-Zone checkbox is selected.

  • Confirm that the Incident Zone or geo-fenced (map-based) targeting feature is enabled for your organization in Everbridge Suite.

  • For organizations using Visual Command Center (VCC), consider configuring alert-to-workflow automations so that risk events in defined areas can automatically trigger related incident or notification workflows.

Contacts Using the Everbridge Mobile App Should

  • Allow the app to deliver push notifications.

  • Allow the app to use the device's background location services and set location access to Always, not just Only when in use, for more reliable Incident-Zone notifications.

  • Keep the app running in the background.

  • Do NOT close, delete, or uninstall the app.
