How to format email notifications in Everbridge as rich text emails.

Description

Email content can be formatted separately for notifications as rich text emails. To enable separate email content for notifications, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to the Manager Portal and select the appropriate Organization from the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Click on the Settings tab at the top of the page.
  3. Click Notifications on the left.
  4. Click Default Options from the sub-menu.
  5. Enable Custom Email/EMA Message. It's recommended to check the Always use New Text Editor box.
  6. Navigate to launch new notification page
  7. Note the RTF (rich text editor) that appears when you check the Use Custom Email/Everbridge Mobile App Message/MS Teams/Slack message option.

With this feature enabled, email notifications may be formatted with the following options:

  • bold, italic, underline and other text formatting options
  • font sizes and styles
  • font color and text highlighting
  • bullet and number lists
  • indenting and justification of text
  • image hosting, hyperlinking and table creation
NOTE:
  • Ensure at least one email address delivery method is selected for a notification using separate email content, otherwise the email-only content will not be sent.
  • At least one character must be entered in the plain text body field even if a notification will not utilize other delivery methods.
  • To remove undesired formatting from message content copied and pasted from another source, highlight the desired portion of the message and select Remove Formatting Icon from the toolbar. This step should be performed any time content is copied and pasted into a message, as some formatting may not appear in Everbridge, but may appear within emails sent to Contacts.
  • If you experience issues with bullet points overlapping with text in custom email messages within an Everbridge incident notification template, try to add bullet points directly using the Everbridge text editor, rather than copying and pasting from another source. If the issue still persists, try removing and re-adding the bullet points using the Everbridge text editor's bullet point functionality.
