Mobile: Contacts Using Android Mobile Devices in China Cannot Download the Everbridge Mobile App From the Google Play Store

Environment:

Problem:

Contacts using android mobile devices in China cannot download the Everbridge Mobile App from the Google Play store.

Root Cause:

Google Play store services are unavailable in China.

Workaround:

Contacts in China can connect to a Virtual Private Network (VPN), which will give them access to the Google Play store services and thus the ability to download the Everbridge Mobile app. Contacts can follow the steps below to connect to a VPN on their mobile device:

  1. Tap the device's Settings app.

  2. Tap Wireless & networks.

  3. Tap More.

  1. Tap VPN.

 

  1. Tap the + icon to create a new VPN connection.

  1. Enter the VPN name.

  2. Enter the Server Address.

  3. Select the checkbox next to PPP encryption (MPPE) if applicable.

  4. Tap Save.

Connecting to VPN

  1. A prompt will open, then enter a username and password.
    1. Optionally, select the checkbox next to Save account information.
    2. Optionally, select the checkbox next to Always-on VPN.
  2. Tap Connect.
 

Open the Google Play store and download the Everbridge Mobile app.
