EBS: How to Create Notifications in Multiple Languages in Everbridge Suite

Description:

A single notification will not be translated into multiple languages by Everbridge. You must create an additional information field for contacts based on language, create rules to filter contacts based on language, and then create a notification in the target language in order to send notifications in multiple languages.

To create an additional information field for contacts based on language:

  1. Log in to the Manager Portal.

  1. Under Settings, click Organization, then Contacts and Groups (or Contacts/Assets if you have Asset Management enabled)
  2. Select Additional Information, then + Add.
  3. Under ADD FIELDS, fill in:
    • Name (Language or Preferred Language would be good options.) 
    • Data Type (Text.)
    • Display format (Single Selection List.)
    • Selection Options (The specific languages would go here.)
    • + Add Another Item for adding additional options.

  1. Select Save.

To create a rule to filter contacts based on language:

  1. Log in to the Manager Portal.

  1. Under Contacts (or Contacts/Assets if you have Asset Management enabled), click Rules, then + Add. 
  2. Under ADD RULE:
    1. Fill in Rule name (Specific languages would be good options.)
    2. Click Select field, then under Additional information, select the specific field you created for languages.
    3. The starts with drop-down can be left alone or you can select a different option based on your preference.
    4. Fill in the box next to the drop-down with the specific language you want to filter in.

  1. Select Save. You can also select Contact Preview to view the contacts that would be selected if you were to use this rule in a notification

To create a notification in the target language:

  1. Log in to the Manager Portal.

  1. Under Notifications, select + New Notification. 
  2. Fill out the notification appropriately. Be sure to write the message title and message body in the target language.
  3. Under Contacts, select Rules, and then select the rule you created for the language of the notification.

  1. Under Settings, select Edit, then More options. 
  2. At the bottom of the list, next to Language, select the appropriate language from the drop-down list.

  1. Under Send & Save, there is the option to save this as a template for use again for a future notification. 
  2. Select Send.
