This article describes the multiple delivery method intervals, cycles and durations available when creating notifications.
Definitions
Term |
Definition |
---|---|
Interval between delivery methods |
How long Everbridge Suite will wait before sending the Notification to the next delivery method in the cycle (list). If set to 0 the system will complete the attempt to the first delivery method and then immediately attempt the next delivery method in the cycle. It will NOT attempt all delivery methods simultaneously. |
Broadcast duration |
How long the broadcast will stay active for. To ensure that all the cycles and delivery methods are alerted to, please make sure the broadcast duration provides enough time for the cycles and delivery methods to finish. See Knowledge Base Article 000001465 - Mass Notification Voice Paths and Broadcast Durations for more information. |
Contact cycles |
A cycle is a pass through the list of checked delivery methods. Contact cycles decide how many times you want the Everbridge Suite to run through the list of delivery methods in the same Notification. |
Interval between cycles |
How long the Everbridge Suite will wait between the end of one cycle and the start of another. In the screenshot below this would be after the Emergency SMS was sent and before attempting to send E-mail 1 again. |
Create a Notification
Log in to the Manager Portal and select the appropriate Organization from the upper right-hand corner.
Select Notifications from the top menu bar.
Select + New Notification from the drop-down menu.
Scroll down to Settings and choose Edit.
Choose which delivery methods to use for this particular Notification.
Select More options to modify any of the above-defined parameters.
Change/Update Delivery Methods:
Log in to the Manager Portal and select the appropriate Organization from the upper right-hand corner.
Navigate to Settings > Notifications > Delivery Methods.
To add a new delivery method fill out the bottom fields and click + Add.
To edit existing delivery methods, click on the pencil icon to the right of each method.
Change the Maximum or Default value for any of the above fields:
Log in to the Manager Portal and select the appropriate Organization from the upper right-hand corner.
Navigate to Settings > Notifications > Default Options.
Change Maximum and/or Default values.
Click Save.
Note: If you are experiencing downstream communication errors and receiving duplicate notifications, adjusting the cycle count from 2 to 1 in your notification settings can help. This ensures each number is only called once per notification.
