How is Contact Tracing configured in Everbridge Suite?

Answer:

In order to configure Contact Tracing, the following steps are required in the Manager Portal:

  1. Create incident variables and an incident template.
  2. Enable Contact Tracing.
  3. Create a Self-Report Button.

Follow the sections below in order:

Create Incident Variables and an Incident Template

Incident variables are used to configure a custom set of questions that will be asked of contacts using the Everbridge Mobile app in relation to contact tracing. Follow the steps below to create incident variables:

  1. Log in to the Manager Portal and select the desired organization from the upper right-hand corner.
  2. Click on the Incidents tab.
  3. Click the Variables sub-tab.
  4. Click New Variable.
  5. Use the dropdown to select the Multiple Selection variable type.
  6. In the Name text box, enter the question that will be asked to contacts using the Everbridge Mobile App.
  7. Enter the answers available to contacts in the Options boxes and select the check boxes next to them.
  8. Click OK.

Once all the desired variables are created to capture information for contact tracing, they can be used in incident templates. Follow the steps below to create incident templates that will use the previously created incident variables:

  1. Click on the Incidents tab.
  2. Click on the Templates sub-tab.
  3. Click New Incident Template.
  4. Enter a Name.
  5. Select the radio button for Live.
  6. Select the check boxes next to the desired variable(s) created.
    1. Select the system variables, _initiator ID and _initiator Name. These variables capture the details of the contacts responding the question(s) in the previously created variables. NOTE: These system variables will be blank if anonymous Self-Report is configured in the next section below.
  7. Click on Outgoing Message on the right side of the page.
  8. Click on the + button next to the desired variables for the outgoing message.
  9. Click on Contacts on the left of the page and select the desired contacts.
  10. Click Save.

Enable Contact Tracing

Once the Template has been created, enable Contact Tracing to allows contacts in the organization to get alerts when they come in contact with someone who has been reported to have COVID-19.

Follow the steps below to enable Contact Tracing:

  1. Click on the Settings tab.
  2. Click on the Everbridge Mobile App sub-tab.
  3. Click on Application Options from the left-hand side of the page.
  4. Click on Contact Tracing.
  5. Select the check box next to Enable Mobile App Bluetooth Proximity Tracing.
  6. Select the check box next to Enable app to notify mobile users after Exposure Events. (This will send push notification to contacts using the Everbridge Mobile app after exposure events.)
  7. Enter a message in the text box to customize the notification that will be sent to contacts using the Everbridge Mobile app after exposure events.
  8. Select the check box next to Trigger Incident after Exposure Event.
  9. Select the incident template previously created that will be used for Contact Tracing.
  10. Click Save.

Create a Self-Report Button

Creating a Self-Report Button contacts to self-report if they tested positive for COVID-19, based off the questionnaire created in the incident template in the earlier section of this article.

Follow the steps below to create a Self-Report button:

  1. Click on the Settings tab.
  2. Click on the Everbridge Mobile App sub-tab.
  3. Click on Application Options from the left-hand side of the page.
  4. Click Safety.
  5. Scroll down and click Add a Custom Button.
  6. Under the Type drop-down, select Self-Report.
  7. Enter a Name and Description for the button.
  8. Optionally, upload an image for the button.
  9. Select the desired radio button for WHO CAN SEE THIS BUTTON?
  10. Under WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THIS BUTTON IS TAPPED?, select the desired template created earlier.
  11. Select the desired check boxes under WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THIS SELF-REPORT FORM IS SUBMITTED SUCCESSFULLY?
  12. Click Save.
