How to manage groups via a file upload.

Description

Groups and the Contacts in them can be managed in bulk by uploading a Contact file in the Manager Portal.

The group column and a contact file, reads information and a specific way.

It displays every group a contact is included in.

And uses pipe symbols to separate the group names instead of commas.

Is as easy as adding a name.

And a pipe symbol with no spaces.

And a contact can be removed from a group simply by deleting the group name.

In addition, brand-new groups can be created by adding a new name to the groups column.

When this file is uploaded, using the update option.

This contact will be added to all of the groups in this cell, removed from any that aren't indicated here, and new groups will be created.

Some organizations have multiple methods of contact updates happening at any given time.

Meaning that this contact may have been added to the manager group five minutes ago. And this file does not reflect that change.

You can make sure that your changes won't accidentally remove groups that aren't reflected in the file by using an asterisk alongside the pipe symbol.

Again, no spaces between the characters.

22. Replace Upload

Keep in mind that the asterisk and pipe symbol does not keep the replace file upload option from deleting information. Choosing replace will supersede the asterisk and pipe symbol being used.
